Curvaceous Chelsea works at a salon in Bear Canyon Valley. She gets butterflies when Grant’s around. But she’s got her own baggage. Plus, she thinks that Grant would be better off with the local, stunning, curvy, widowed-way-too-early Mae Forester.

Read on for my thoughts on Protection.  No true spoilers, promise.

Welcome to Bear Canyon Valley the location of Elle Thorne’s popular Shifters Forever series.  I recently discovered Ms Thorne’s work through another of her novels, a spinoff from this main series that I had reviewed through NetGalley.  It only took one story for me to know that I needed to know this entire clan of shifters and their chosen mates.  So I went back to the beginning with Protection, the first story in the Shifters Forever series.  I am so thankful that at some point I was wise enough to sign up for Kindle Unlimited – then when I’m low on book budget funds I can still find amazing stories and know that the author is getting credit for my reading their work.  Even more grateful to find that this series that I want to get caught up on is available there as well.

So, now that you have a bit of background on why you will be seeing a lot of Ms Thorne’s works here in the coming days – Let’s move ahead to my review of Protection.

Chelsea has secrets.  Horrible secrets that keeps her on the run and limits her interactions with others.  Trouble is, she’s awfully attracted to one of her customers, Grant and so very thankful for the friendship and job offered by her boss Mae.  She’s not stupid, Chelsea senses that Grant is flirting with her but she is under the misconception that Grant and Mae would make, or are in fact, a great couple.  Chelsea couldn’t be more wrong about that relationship.

Grant really doesn’t need his hair cut as often as he’s been getting lately.  But at least these appointments put him near the woman he is wildly attracted to, Chelsea – his bear wants him to speed things up and claim their woman, but Grant is aware of how skittish the curvy beauty is around him and he’s not sure that it’s all hidden attraction.  Plus, there’s the whole shifter thing.  Chelsea may have secrets but so does Grant.

Protection is a fast paced, highly sensuous and deeply intriguing story.  I never give away major spoilers, so I would highly recommend that you discover the passion, mystery and love surrounding Chelsea and Grant for yourself.  As well as beginning to meet the other important characters in this amazing series, Protection gives us the first tastes of understanding how Grant’s clan and world operate.

There are bad guys, steamy sex scenes, friendships to be deepened and characters to meet.  And a tender, sexy love story to enjoy.  What more can a shifter lover ask for?  I definitely recommend Protection for any reader of paranormal romance, shifters especially and those who simply love a good romance.
