Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.

Needing someone he can trust, her father sends her undercover to Nocturne Falls to find out why employees at the Santa’s Workshop toy store are going missing.

Doing that requires getting to know the town, which leads to interesting encounters with a sexy vampire, an old flame, and an elevator that’s strictly off-limits. The more Jayne finds out, the more questions she has, but the answers lead her deeper into danger.

Will her magic save her? Or will she come up cold?

I recently discovered the Nocturne Falls series and the along side Jayne Frost mystery series.  I have to say, I’m loving them both like crazy.  The mystery is well thought out, clues along the way with enough to have you think…wonder if – but not enough to completely solve it until the almost end.  And even then you’re questioning…but, why?  This is the kind of mystery I enjoy.  A story that runs along side the mystery, a bit of romance, some flirty times and a reason to keep looking further into the mystery at hand.  It’s well done and I am so looking forward to picking up the next story in this series.

Let’s face it.  It’s not easy being the Winter King’s daughter.  You’d think it would be, and yeah, there are perks.  But there are also down sides as well.  Like never knowing if anyone likes you just for yourself.  People are either sucking up nicely… or too afraid to give you a chance to say more than hello before running off.  So Jayne has kept busy in the family business… mostly far away from other elves.  Double checking the naughty and nice lists gets old real fast ya know?  But now her father has a special job for her.  One where her identity can be hidden through undetectable magic and she’ll appear as any other elf working in a remote Santa’s Workshop location in Nocturne Falls.  Oh, on the surface it’s a toy story but the magic is happening behind closed doors.  And elves are going missing.  Simply turning in a note, quitting, walking away from everything they own and disappearing off of the face of the planet.  Jayne Frost will be hidden behind the magic of one very special bracelet, and Lilibeth Holiday, her alter ego, will be going to replace the latest missing elf at the Workshop.  She has a mystery to solve… and it’s not going to be easy.

Jayne will also run into the man who broke her heart years ago.  In all places, Nocturne Falls.  Go Figure.  Thanks to her magic Cooper doesn’t know who she really is… yet.  And while their relationship is mostly friendly, there are moments when he almost sees through her disguise.  His version of the break up with the woman he loved, and her reality of that same break up do not match… so there’s a smaller mystery to solve as well.  Garret is adorable as the Vampire On Duty (VOD) and his sexiness gives Jayne another romantic interest to add into the mix of everything she’s got going on.

I enjoyed Miss Frost  Solves A Cold Case so much.  It’s humorous, with likable characters (except for the villains of course), a world that we already know but is expanded on a bit and some great secondary characters to add to this delicious mix of mystery, romance and humor.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Paranormal Romance, or Mystery.  Together they are amazing.  Now to go pick up the next story in the series.
